Samsung has launched another gaming monitor. In this latest foray into the gaming monitor market, Samsung has armed itself with the CRG5, a 27-inch curved G-Sync compatible monitor supporting very fast refresh rates. This is the first ever monitor designed for G-Sync from Samsung.
Samsung CRG5 27-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor With 240Hz Refresh Rate, Nvidia G-Sync Support Launched
The Samsung C27RG5 is an okay budget monitor with a 27 inch, 1080p VA screen that delivers impressive contrast, as expected. It also has excellent gray uniformity and decent black uniformity. It has no issue with glare, with good peak brightness and good reflection handling. It has an extremely high refresh rate, and it supports a few advanced gaming features, including variable refresh rate (VRR) support. Although mainly advertised as a gaming monitor, it's not very well-suited for that use, as it has a bad response time, resulting in significant blur behind fast-moving objects. We also encountered a few issues, including a distracting brightness flicker with some content when VRR is enabled, and the overdrive settings don't appear to work correctly, as there's very little difference between them. Unfortunately, it has bad ergonomics, with just a small tilt range, so it might be difficult to place it in an ideal viewing position, and the image degrades at an angle.
The Samsung 27-inch CRG5 display is based on a curved VA panel featuring a 19201080 resolution, 300 nits brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, a 4 ms response time, a 240 Hz maximum refresh rate, and a 1500R curvature. The LCD can display 16.7 million of colors and can reproduce 72% of the NTSC 1976 color gamut, which is in line with monitors developed primarily for hardcore gamers and esports enthusiasts.
At the ongoing E3 2019 gaming expo, Samsung unveiled its brand new gaming monitor at Epic Games' PC Gaming Show. The new monitor, called CRG5 or C27RG5, is a 27-inch curved gaming monitor which boasts of a high 240Hz refresh rate and also supports Nvidia's G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. The monitor will go on sale globally in Q3 this year, for an expected price of $399 (roughly Rs. 27,670).
The Samsung CRG5 uses a 27-inch VA panel and features a 1500R curvature. It also has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The monitor boasts of wide viewing angles of 178 degrees, both vertically and horizontally, typical brightness of 300 candelas, a 4ms response time (gray to gray), and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. The monitor is also Windows 10 certified and Nvidia G-Sync certified. The latter allows the refresh rate of the monitor to vary depending on the framrerate in the game, thus reducing screen tearing. It's compatible with Nvidia's desktop graphics cards which support G-Sync such as the 10-series and new RTX-series and 11-series.
The curved gaming monitor from Samsung carries the model number CRG5 and flaunts a 27-inch FULL HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and minimal bezel design. It has deeper blacks and brighter whites with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and also has a curved vertical alignment panel display for a wide viewing experience.
The 27-inch CRG5 supports 240Hz refresh rate through RapidCurve technology, eliminating screen lag time and it also has NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility for a smooth, tear-free gaming experience. Apart from this, gamers can also select pre-set display options for any genre of game with an on-screen digital menu, and for more advanced customization, they can create up to three separate display profiles to easily switch between.
Samsung is no stranger to gaming monitors, but you've had to use AMD FreeSync (if it was even available) if you were determined to eliminate any trace of screen tearing artifacts. What if your PC uses NVIDIA graphics, though? You can relax -- Samsung has finally released a display with G-Sync, the 27-inch CRG5. The panel mates G-Sync with a 240Hz refresh rate to deliver tear-free visuals as long as you have a GeForce GPU under the hood. There's a low-latency mode and a reasonably quick 4ms gray-to-gray pixel response time, too, so it could be a solid pick even if you prefer Radeons.
This monitor uses a curved 24-inch VA panel, providing improved colour accuracy and substantially better contrast than you'd expect from a TN monitor, which is great for games with darker scenes or playing in dark rooms. In exchange, you get slightly worse pixel response times than a TN or IPS panel. Still, combined with the fluid 165Hz refresh rate and FreeSync variable refresh rate support, you've got a great budget monitor ideal for PC gaming, from more cinematic fare to fast-paced titles like racing or shooters. You can use the monitor with next-gen consoles that support 120Hz output too, making it a good choice for anyone that likes to play fast-paced games on PS5 or Series X. Finally, the monitor's stand is much better than most sub-200 offerings, with swivel, tilt and height adjust, and there's a USB hub with four USB ports - very useful for reducing cable clutter.
The LG 27GP950 is the best 4K 144Hz monitor for both console and PC players. It offers both HDMI 2.1 support for 4K 120Hz gameplay on Xbox Series X and PS5, plus a DisplayPort 1.4 DSC connection to hit 4K 160Hz on PC over a single cable. The fast Nano IPS display is great for high fidelity gaming and productivity, aided by a wide colour gamut and excellent colour accuracy, while the high refresh rate and fast pixel response times ensure that fast-paced games appear fluid in motion, with minimal input lag.
Refresh rate: How many times the screen updates per second, given in Hz. Standard monitors and TVs refresh at 60Hz, while gaming models may refresh anywhere from 100 to 240Hz, with 144Hz being the most common choice for a high refresh rate monitor. The higher the refresh rate, the more fluid a game will feel.
Samsung has not been left behind at the ongoing Gamescom 2019 in Cologne Germany. The South Korean manufacturer launched the Samsung CRG5 gaming monitor. It is ideal for gamers looking for a curved monitor with blistering 240Hz refresh rate for the best, immersive gaming.
240Hz gaming monitors are all the rage among competitive esports circles at the moment, but I have to admit that I've never felt creakier or more decrepit playing games than I have with AOC's C27G2ZU plonked on my desk. To be clear, I'm not casting shade on the monitor itself. This 27in, 1920x1080 gaming display has an absolutely top quality curved VA panel, and its AMD Freesync Premium support works beautifully with Nvidia and AMD graphics cards alike. It's not one of Nvidia's officially certified G-Sync Compatible monitors (yet), but it's a fantastic gaming monitor nonetheless. I am, however, officially too old to keep up with its blistering 240Hz refresh rate.
Its AMD Freesync Premium support is another bonus, too. Whereas normal Freesync monitors will automatically change your monitor's refresh rate to the number of frames being spewed out by your graphics card once you hit a certain threshold (normally around 48fps), a Freesync Premium monitor effectively removes that minimum frame rate threshold thanks to AMD's Low Frame rate Compensation tech. In short, it means you'll get that same super smooth, tear-free gaming experience at 30fps, 25fps, or whatever frame rate your graphics card can cope with. 2ff7e9595c
